Judi R. Gerhardt
Owner
Artist, business woman, political consultant, equestrian—Judi Gerhardt has always pursued her passions and seized new opportunities that have come her way. Now her entrepreneurial spirit has led her to a new venture that brings together her commitment to the environment and to art in an up-scale clothing store that caters to businesswomen and men who are looking for stylish clothes made from natural fibers and recycled from previous owners. Located in the Bennett Street Market of Buckhead, Career Fashion Consignment is a space designed to delight the senses of “green” conscious shoppers. In this intimate boutique Judi shares with her clients her fashion know-how about the importance of image in the diverse industries of the business and professional world.
Judi’s talents and skills are broad. Foremost, she is an outgoing person who enjoys social interaction. From her business life to her community leadership, Judi has exhibited an ability to see people and their environments clearly and constructively. She spent 15 years as an independent political consultant, working with volunteers and candidates, marketing and campaign management. Her love of people was apparent early on when she chose to major in organizational psychology at the University of Alabama. Years of travel across the European and African continents has deepened her awareness of the broad spectrum of cultures that frame people’s everyday lives.
Judi is innovative and creative. From the prints and drawings she has created for her own home to her disciplined approach to new businesses she has entered, Judi has exhibited the drive to move in new directions, to offer new visions of the possible. In Louisiana, where she owned and operated the Blue Moon Equestrian Center, Judi founded a special program to nurture young sport horses with a systematic process aimed at developing their natural physical and mental aptitudes. A new concept in American breeding, Judi’s StartSmart Academy was hailed by those in the field who valued the multi-layered, classical equestrian training she offered.
Above all, Judi is resilient. Most recently she has survived the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, which destroyed her Equestrian Center. She has lived through the victories and defeats of candidates she has worked for. Standing firmly through life’s vicissitudes, Judi has displayed her communication skills, her business acumen, and her instincts for doing the right thing to land on her feet, even when the ground is covered in water.
Judi is once again flourishing in her new business venture, using her organizational, entrepreneurial, and survival skills to make Career Fashion Consignment the place of her dreams, where art and the environment come together in a green business that serves her clients well while nurturing her spirit.
